Four new food businesses have registered with St Albans City and District Council in Harpenden and are waiting for their first hygiene inspection: Anita's Cake Bakery, Selma's Little Bakery and Jessy's Dream Bakes, all listed as catering premises, and Festive Sips, a mobile caterer. None is listed with a street address — the register gives only an AL5 area, which is the usual signature of a home baker or a drinks-and-food van working markets, fairs and parties, rather than a shopfront.

That is four more kitchens or trailers in Harpenden making food for sale, and it is a decent sign for the autumn fair and party season. None has been inspected yet, so there is no rating to judge them by — worth asking for the certificate once the inspectors have been round, and worth watching which of the four turns up at a market stall first.
